The 9th ASEAN Para Games will be happening in Kuala Lumpur from the 17th until 23rd of September with the biggest number of sporting events in the game’s 17-year history.
This year’s ASEAN Para Games will see over 1,500 athlete’s participation in a total of 17 different sporting events throughout the seven days.
The 17 sports that will be contested are athletics, swimming, tenpin bowling, cycling, archery, badminton, boccia, chess, football 5, CP football, goalball , powerlifting, table tennis, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis.
Once again, Malaysia will be sending its biggest contingent, boasting 331 athletes in the Para Games, with 169 officials and coaches.
This is followed by Thailand (291 athletes), Indonesia (192), Vietnam (150), Myanmar (120), Philippines (115), Singapore (92), Cambodia (70), Laos (50), Brunei (27) and Timor Leste (14 athletes).
The opening ceremony for the ASEAN Para Games will take place on the 17th of September, 8pm at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil. Not only is Malaysian superstar Yuna performing at the opening ceremony, the entrance is also free of charge!
You can also get the passes at the National Stadium itself – tickets will be distributed on the 16th of September from 2pm until 6pm and 17th September from 10am until 8pm on a first-come-first-serve basis.
