Malaysia’s wonderkid N. Thanabalan is one of the six players who have been marked for a Thailand transfer by talent scouts from the Thai League T1.
The other five players named are in the transfer talk are Adam Nor Azlin from Selangor, Muhammad Adib from FELCRA FC, Syamer Kutty Abba and Jafri Firdaus Chew from Penang, and Nor Azam Abdul Azih from Pahang.
This transfer talk surfaced after the KL 2017 men’s football final between Malaysia and Thailand – where Malaysia finished in second place after displaying a praise-worthy performance in their entire SEA Games campaign under head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee.
Just yesterday, Thanabalan’s fellow teammate and national U-22 captain Adib Zainuddin expressed that he would like to move to Thailand if the official offer does come through, as it will be a great opportunity for him to develop his career.
However, it does not seem like Thanabalan shares the same sentiment as the national captain. Instead of signing with a new club and upgrading to the Malaysia Premier League or Super League, it appears that the boy from Negeri Sembilan is more committed towards taking his club, FELCRA FC, to new heights.
“Next mission… bringing FELCRA FC to the Premier League.” the 22-year-old tweeted on his official Twitter account.

Apart from helping Malaysia seal a comeback win against Singapore in the group stages, Thanabalan also scored two goals to inspire Datuk Ong Kim Swee’s boys to a 3-1 victory over Myanmar.
Thanabalan emerged national hero and became the talk of the town after he scored the only goal at the Malaysia-Indonesia semi final bout at the Shah Alam stadium.
Malaysia won the match 1-0 and booked their ticket to the final, where they ultimately succumbed to Thailand.
Wherever you choose to be, Thanabalan, we wish you the best!
