Selangor have been handed a huge injury boost before the start of the June transfer window as star skipper Andik Vermansyah has returned to Malaysia after being out since December.

The quick-footed and pacy winger, who has often been referred to as The Lionel Messi of Indonesia, was dealt a huge blow after he picked up a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury in the first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final against Thailand late last year.

Andik Vermansyah shared the good news with his followers on Instagram.

The Red Giants were forced to snap up the services of Timor-Leste midfielder Juliano Mineiro earlier this year to replace the Indonesian. Despite excelling for Selangor in such a short period of time, he will have to say his goodbyes to the team because his contract ends soon.

The return of Andik Vermansyah will definitely solve Selangor and head coach P. Maniam’s creativity woes, but will miss out on the services of the attacking midfielder from Rio de Janeiro as he has been Selangor’s top goalscorer this season alongside Francis Forkey Doe.

“I understand that he (Andik) has recovered from his injury and was able to rejoin training. If he can play again it will be good for the team,” P. Maniam said as quoted by Goal.

Andik Vermansyah returning to the team will definitely boost the spirits of the Selangor supporters and might even have an impact to fight for the league title this season.

Selangor sit in fourth place and is seven points behind leaders Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT).
