Here’s why JDT have been handed a RM 100,000 fine by AFC

Southern Tigers Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have been handed two fines by the Asian Football Federation.

The Asian Football Confederation’s disciplinary committee have slapped a US$ 15,000 fine on JDT for failing to send their head coach to the AFC Cup pre-match conference against Global FC.

AFC slammed the ban on the Southern Tigers in accordance to the AFC Cup 2017 Regulations. Johor Darul Ta’zim violated article 3.3.9 of the regulations.

Apart from that, JDT’s assistant coach Ismail Ibrahim was slapped with a US$ 10,000 for the same violation.

In total, JDT will have to pay up US$ 25,000 (RM 110,662) to AFC for the offences.

Johor Darul Ta’zim took on Global FC in the AFC Cup Group F match at the Larkin Stadium on March 14. The Southern Tigers defeated them 4-0, thanks to goals from Mahali Jasuli, Safiq Rahim, Brian Ferreira, and Marcos Antonio.

Johor Darul Ta’zim will play the second leg of the match in Manila on the 5th of April, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

JDT have issued a statement of apology on their official Facebook page, saying that “[we] apologize for the technical error on our side and we will pay the fine by today. We will look into this matter and make sure that it will not happen again in future.”

The apology was made by HH Tunku Tun Aminah Binti Sultan Ibrahim, President of Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club.
