Negeri Sembilan youngster Sean Eugene Selvaraj is still reeling with delight after he was given the chance of a lifetime to be a part of Datuk Ong Kim Swee’s Project 2017 SEA Games squad.

Sean Selvaraj is currently in China with the Malaysia U22 team and they’ve already played two matches thus far – a 0-1 defeat against China U22 as well as a 2-2 draw with Guangzhou R&F’s reserve team. On Thursday, they’ll be playing one final match against Guangzhou Evergrande’s reserve team.

The 21 year-old attacker, who hails from Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, believes he will do whatever it takes to make a name for himself during his time with national Under-22 squad.

“I hope that I will be able to show the head coach (Ong Kim Swee) my strengths, because I know that I can change the game with my speed and eagerness,” Sean Selvaraj told FourthOfficial.com.

“I may have a different style of technique from the the other players, but we all want the same goal at the end of the day. I believe that our team will be able to work together and do well.

Sean Selvaraj, who is a big fan of Harimau Malaya captain Amri Yahyah, will be playing alongside the likes of some experienced players such as Syafiq Ahmad, Jafri Firdaus Chew and Amirul Hisyam Awang Kechik and he thinks that they will help him be a better player in the future.

“I think I can be as good as the best players in the team and it will all be because of their  guidance. I see myself playing somewhere in Asia one day, but for now, my focus is this team.

The ex-Harimau Muda C player is currently the top goalscorer in this season’s President Cup with ten goals to his name and has helped his home state reach the summit of Group B. He is only one of the two President Cup players that was called up by Datuk Ong Kim Swee.

“I think my time in the President Cup raised some eyebrows and I was grateful to be chosen.”
